About 2,000 hardcore poor and orphans will benefit from the Hari Raya Contributions Aid programme organised by three agencies.
The agencies are Malaysian Muslim Consumers’ Association (PPIM), Zakat Collection Centre and Al-Madrasathul Faridiyah.
PPIM lead activist Datuk Nadzim Johan said the annual programme that was started 18 years ago had expanded and this year, there would be a buka puasa do for recipients.
“We gave out forms at Taman Sri Rampai in Kuala Lumpur, as data collection to see how many applicants are eligible.
“The programme also aims to spread festive cheer and reduce the applicants’ financial burden,” he said, adding that the event to break fast together would be held in the third week of Ramadan.
Applicants will get provisions such as rice, cooking oil and noodles as well as some pocket money.
“It is important to have the feel-good factor during festive seasons.
“A small contribution like this will help the needy community society,” he added.
